I suppose I will start off this post the same way I start off every morning with my son: by saying “hello!” (Of course, I sing it in a song to him, but I will spare you my off-key crooning.)
I am happy that you landed here in the world of Gaudy Language, a project that I’ve been working on for the better part of seven years. I have changed hosting spaces a few times and unfortunately, I’ve lost posts along the way, but I’m excited with each new iteration. This has been a passion project, and Gaudy Language has become a space for me to muse, to vent, to wonder, and to explore. (I hope it becomes the same for you.)
Who am I? My name is Jena Prystowsky. I’m a wife and a mother of one human child and of two furry children- one canine and one feline. I’m a writer. I am an artist, an enthusiastic (albeit untalented) singer. I am passionate about improving conditions for all human beings, about the welfare of children, about politics, about travel, about learning, and about food, among other things. All of these passions (and my penchant for talking everyone’s ears off about them) actually led me to creating this blog.
So here I am. And here you are. And I’m so excited to share my thoughts with you and to hear yours. I am fortunate to have guest writers occasionally and I’m excited for you to hear their voices too.
