Finding Time for Your Projects

Just like finding time for yourself (https://www.gaudylanguage.com/post/finding-balance) finding time for your business will require you to carve out time in your schedule. If you are self-employed and your business is your main focus, it might be easier to get everything done each day. If you work full-time for another company and/or have other full-time responsibilities throughout the day, you may not be able to carve out a lot for your own enterprises, but every few minutes count. Set priorities and figure out what tasks can be reduced or eliminated. Perhaps some tasks can be delegated to other people, whether those people are under your employ or friends and family members. Some people use contractors or freelancers for the work they don't have the time or skillset to do themselves. Fiverr and Upwork are good sites to find freelancers.

Once you have a bit more time in your day, decide how you want to spend it. Since time is precious, you want to be strategic in how you use it. Make a list of the tasks you want to complete each day and the goals you have for each week. This way, you will not only get important things done but you will be able to see some real action and milestones which will feel pretty gratifying. If you can't get everything done in one day, move it to the next day or if you know you're going to have a bigger project, break it down over multiple days. Every day you're making strides and that's what's important.

The work day may look a bit different if you're navigating full-time responsibilities throughout the day. Your work day may start before sunrise (that's occasionally what mine looks like) or it may start at night after everyone else in the house is asleep (that's also occasionally what my work day looks like.) You might also work on weekends. I don't believe this sort of schedule is necessarily sustainable over a long period of time, but when you're starting up, it could work.

Whenever you get a chance- downtime during the day, a few moments before you go to bed, or maybe when you wake up in the morning, a brainstorming session or meditation could be a great way to get creative juices flowing and to de-stress.

Perhaps the way we live in our society isn't conducive to creative activities or leisure but we can do our best to make time for the things we are interested in or a business that we want to start. Every little bit of time spent toward our dreams matters.
