Precious Carson is a poet from St. Matthews, South Carolina who has recently completed a book of poetry entitled: Drapetomania: The Pain in Knowledge. She describes this work as an "intimate, free-flowing poetic journey" which will bring the reader "into her world of loss, learning, pain, confusion, and realization by laying bare her innermost thoughts and emotions." Her goal for this book is to provide insight about surviving loss and coping with grief and depression, while also celebrating our ability to survive and thrive against all odds.
